There’s more available to you and within you.
Is it time to shift what’s gotten stuck?
You may already know something needs to change.
Maybe it shows up as a pattern you keep finding yourself in, with different people and different circumstances, but the same feeling at the end. A decision you've been circling for so long and can’t quite resolve. Something missing that you can't quite name but can't stop sensing, either.
If you’ve been trying to get to the bottom of it and still haven’t gotten there, that’s really quite normal. Often, it just means that this kind of stuckness lives somewhere that thinking and talking aren’t able to reach.

Feeling stuck or uncertain often arises from a place beyond the mind: your spirit.
Shamanic healing goes gently but powerfully to the heart of it.
Shamanic healing bridges our everyday world, with all of our own problems and struggles, and the spirit world. This kind of healing goes deep to cleanse, illuminate, and activate your own energetic field, restoring you to a sense of wholeness and vitality.
As a shamanic practitioner, I act as a mediator between these worlds on your behalf, connecting with the spiritual forces that are influencing your life and helping discover what’s at the root of your challenges.
This type of healing is energetic and spiritual, but it has important practical impacts, too. Clearing and getting unstuck helps you move forward with more energy and self-connection. You can make different choices, show up differently, and see new possibilities. You can follow a nudge to change, to make conscious choices and to work with your imagination to create the life of your choosing.
And choosing to become more of who you are, to do whatever good in the world you’re uniquely called to do, is a powerful act in this world of crisis and chaos. It doesn’t stay contained to you. It ripples out into everything around you, too.
I’ve had many healing sessions in my day, but the deep shamanic healing I received from Roger is among the best.
His calm, steady manner immediately put me at ease. Roger is very insightful, to the point he was able to help me identify the core issue I was struggling to express.

Cleansing and Illumination
Clear what’s no longer needed and reconnect with your truest self
Offered in person in Asheville, NC and remotely
Most of us are living at something less than our full potential. Not because we're not trying, but because something is in the way. There’s something accumulated in the energy field, stuck in the spirit, blocking the signal of who we actually are.
That's exactly what a shamanic Cleansing and Illumination addresses. It works in the energetic and spiritual dimension, clearing what's been weighing you down and reactivating the vitality that’s within you.
First, we clear what's been accumulating in your energy field: the dense energies that keep you down and hold you back. Then we activate what's underneath: the vitality, the creativity, and the beauty and strength that are uniquely yours.
When you feel lighter, freer, and more connected to your sense of wholeness, so much possibility opens up. You get to live closer to your full potential—showing up differently, making intentional choices, and contributing what only you can contribute to this world.
What to expect
As a pampamesayok paqo, I work with the energetic field that surrounds the body. Within that field are seven gates or openings, and over time these can become congested with energy that doesn't serve you. In shamanic trance, I'm able to see where that congestion lives and what it's connected to: not just the surface of what you're carrying, but the deeper roots of it. From that place, I clear what needs to be cleared and re-energize the gates with the vitality, creativity, and light that are already in you, waiting to reemerge.
We begin with a candid, supportive conversation where you can share whatever you want to give voice to regarding the issues that are affecting you right now. During the session, I work with a rattle, drum, crystals, bells, feathers, and flute, and soft music plays in the background. For a portion of the time, I invite you to lie down on a massage table in the office, and some light touch is involved in the form of placing small stones on your body.
The experience itself is gentle yet powerful, and people typically feel soothed and refreshed afterwards.
Sessions last 90 minutes and are priced on a sliding scale ($125, $100, $80, $60).
The session was a spiritual journey for me. I felt a deep, solid and supportive energy coming into my body. I felt very refreshed and more aligned with myself.
Roger did a wonderful job in guiding me in the Cleansing and Illumination session. He was very patient and easy to talk to, which immediately put me at ease.
Roger’s voice and the music that was playing really helped me reach a state of calmness and focus on the healing while laying down. He helped me gain clarity through the healing session that brought a sense of understanding and peace within me.

Divination
Open the field of what’s possible and find your way through the fog
Offered in person in Asheville, NC
If you’ve been going back and forth on something for a while now, trying to make up your mind or find clarity, it’s probably not because you’re not smart or self-aware. It’s likely because the answer or resolution you're looking for won’t come from more thinking. It lives somewhere else.
So often, we are confined within polarities. This shows up in our world, with its anger and fear, as well as in ourselves as we try to make choices. We can only see our same old problems and same old solutions. But shamanic divination tends to open up something more interesting: a third possibility, or a fourth, or a completely new way of seeing that wasn’t there before.
Instead of telling you exactly what to do, a divination opens the field of what’s possible, and that’s how you leave with clarity you couldn’t find on your own. Not because I gave you “the answer,” but because something came through that the thinking mind had been too busy to hear.
What to expect
My divination practice is rooted in the Peruvian tradition of coca leaf reading. I use small polished stones in place of coca leaves. You'll hold the stones, bring your concern into them, and release them onto a divination cloth. From there, I read the energetic patterns and rhythms that emerge: where things currently stand, which directions are open, what energies are in play, and what possibilities are available as you move toward your decision.
An audio recording is made of the session and shared with you within a few days, so you can return to what came through as many times as you need to.
Sessions last 90 minutes and are priced on a sliding scale ($125, $100, $80, $60).

Soul Retrievals
Restore your vitality and wholeness by recovering what was lost
Offered in person in Asheville, NC
There's a specific kind of emptiness that no amount of therapy or shadow work seems to touch. When you feel lost and disconnected, parts of you may have gone quiet along the way due to fear or trauma. It makes sense to push precious aspects of yourself deep down into your subconscious, where you can keep them safe.
But restoration and reconnection are possible, and a Soul Retrieval can help welcome all of the sacred, beautiful parts of you back home.
While the name may sound intense, the experience is supportive and gentle. Think of it as a restoration to wholeness, rather than an excavation.
What to expect
We begin with a light energetic cleansing. Then we spend some time together exploring what may have led to the soul loss, not to relive any parts of your trauma, but to understand what we're looking for. From there, I journey to the Lower World of the shaman. In shamanic trance, I see the lost piece of your soul, find the gifts it carries, and bring it back. I restore that piece to your energy field, along with everything it's been holding for you.
After the session, I write a detailed soul retrieval report describing what I found and what came through. We then have a follow-up call together, where you create a personal integration ceremony to welcome this part of yourself back home. That integration step matters. This is real work, and it deserves to be honored.
Sessions last 90 minutes and are priced on a sliding scale ($125, $100, $80, $60).
Active listening, holding space for my issue, explaining the process and how things worked, gentleness and kindness were the most powerful aspects of my session with Roger.

Ceremony Officiating
Honor a significant transition through a meaningful, individualized ceremony
Offered in person in Asheville, NC and WNC
Every significant transition deserves to be marked. New beginnings, changes, and farewells all matter, and how we honor them matters too.
I work with couples, individuals, families, and communities to create ceremonies that feel genuinely theirs for occasions including:
Weddings
Commitment ceremonies
Funerals
Celebrations of life
Blessings of the land
New home blessings
Together, we co-create what your ceremony will include and how it will feel.
What to expect
We start with a conversation about who you are, what this occasion means to you, and what you want this moment to feel like. That might mean honoring ancestors, recognizing the natural world, or drawing on traditions that are meaningful to you. The amount of shamanic influence on the ceremony is up to you.
For example, for a wedding, this typically looks like meeting two or three months in advance, discussing your hopes and dreams for your relationship. We connect again to deepen our connection, talking about your guest list, family expectations, plans for the day, and how I can best support you as your officiant. Closer to the ceremony, I ask for a draft of your vows and share a copy of your custom ceremony script for you to review. And then, it culminates with your rehearsal and, of course, your uniquely beautiful ceremony.
For a funeral or celebration of life, we set out to honor your loved one and a life well-lived. After gathering meaningful information and anecdotes about them (to the extent possible in the time available to us), I create and write a ceremony to celebrate their time on this earth and support those who are grieving.
Pricing depends on the nature and scope of the ceremony. Please reach out for an introductory call and we'll start there.
Working with Roger turned what could have been a brief formal moment into the emotional centerpiece of our entire wedding.
Going into the wedding, we honestly thought the party afterward would end up being our favorite part of the day. Instead, Roger made the ceremony itself the moment we’ll remember most. He created an atmosphere that felt emotional, joyful, intimate, and completely “us.”
He took the time to really get to know us as a couple, understand our story, and create a ceremony that felt true to who we are rather than something generic or scripted. It felt warm, heartfelt, and deeply personal, and Roger thoughtfully integrated our personal spiritual elements with his ceremonial customs.
Many guests commented afterward on how beautiful and genuine the ceremony felt. The feeling of love was palpable in the air.

I’m Roger Wheelock, the Community Shaman
Peruvian-trained, Asheville-based shamanic practitioner
After over ten years as a shamanic practitioner, trained in the Quechua tradition of Colcha, Peru, I have learned a lot about humans and how we heal. I don’t believe that healing is about fixing ourselves. Instead, I believe that we heal to free ourselves.
When you can restore your wholeness and become more of who you really are, you can then go out and do what you’re actually here to do in the world. You can move toward the life you actually want to be living. And that’s what I’m here to help you do.
Through my work as a pampamesayok paqo, I’m able to see you in your full beauty and magnificence, work in the spiritual dimension on your behalf, and help create the conditions for the kind of change you’d like to make. By channeling Spirit, healing comes through me, not from me. After all, you are the authority on your life and your choices, and there is so much potential already within you! It is my honor to help you access it and break free.
You probably have questions (or curiosities) about booking a session with a shaman.

ABOUT SHAMANIC HEALING
What is shamanic healing?
Shamanic healing is one of the oldest healing traditions in the world. At its heart, it's based on the understanding that we are more than our thoughts and our bodies: we have a spiritual dimension, and that's often where the roots of what's hurting us actually live. A shamanic practitioner works in the spiritual dimension on your behalf, helping to clear what's blocking you, restore what's been lost, and open up what's been closed off.
Specifically, I’m trained in the Quechua tradition of Colcha, Peru, and have been granted the standing of pampamesayok paqo.
How is shamanic healing different from other spiritual or energy practices?
Practices like reiki or energy work involve healing transmissions, while things like tarot and other divination arts are about receiving insight or guidance.
But as a shamanic practitioner, I work in the spiritual dimension on your behalf and work with what I find there. It’s more about healing and restoring wholeness than offering insight or information.
Shamanic healing also asks something of you in return, because it involves co-creation. Restoring your connection to your wholeness, to nature, and to Spirit does what thinking alone can’t do. And then you take that—the new possibilities, the unlocked imagination, the parts of yourself that have come back to life—and go out into the world and do something with it. You create the life you want consciously through thought and action.
How do I know you’re the real thing?
It's a fair question. The word "shaman" gets used quite loosely these days, but becoming a shaman isn’t something you can learn from a book or a title you can bestow upon yourself. It takes years of genuine study, relationship, and apprenticeship with master Paqos (the Peruvian word for shaman) who carry these traditions.
I am considered a pampamesayok paqo, a designation that reflects over ten years of continuing apprenticeships and initiations into the healing techniques of the Quechua, descendants of the Incas. For brevity and general awareness, though, “shaman” or “shamanic practitioner” work just fine!
Does this involve plant medicine or altered states?
No, the work I do does not involve plant medicine of any kind. I don’t personally advise on the use of entheogens such as ayahuasca, and the services I provide don’t involve any drugs or journeying. There may be incense, burning of sage and palo santo, or sprinkling Florida Water, but that’s it!
I'm not very familiar with shamanism. Is that okay?
Absolutely. I’m trained in the rites and traditions of the Quechua people, but you don’t need to know anything about these practices or the specific vocabulary in order to experience and benefit from them. These traditions have been helping all kinds of people navigate all kinds of situations for a very long time. What I do is bring these teachings into direct contact with where you actually are and what you actually need.
ABOUT SERVICES
How do I know which service is right for me?
Please feel free to book an introductory call so we can discuss it. Most people come in with a general sense of what they're looking for (like they feel stuck, or they're facing a decision, or something in them feels lost or blocked), but they don't necessarily know which type of session speaks to that. That's why I offer free introductory calls, so we can talk about what's going on for you, and together we'll figure out where to start. Of course, if I don't think I can help you, I'll tell you that too, and do my best to point you to someone who can.
How will I feel afterward?
This is powerful (but gentle!) work, and you may be surprised by how much can shift in a single session. Most people leave their session feeling clearer, lighter, and with a different sense of what’s possible. That renewed energy sends them back out into their life, ready to do something with what’s opened up.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
No, you don’t need to prepare anything. Your session will start off with a compassionate, candid conversation about where you are and what you’re hoping to get out of our time together, and then we go from there.
Do you work with people of all backgrounds and identities?
Absolutely. I see and honor you in your full humanity, and you are welcome here. Part of what I try to create in every session is a safe space where you can give voice to your own experiences and be deeply heard. In your session, you can say what’s really true for you, and feel like you belong. In my experience, even that alone can be powerful enough to shift something.
How many sessions will I need?
Less than you might think! Most people find that a single session opens something up significantly, enough to go back out into their life with a different sense of what's possible. Some people return for another session if something new comes up, but there's no program to complete and no expectation that you'll keep coming back. You come when you need it, and you go out and live your life. That's the whole point.
